C.S. Lewis

Jim, The article you linked to by Mary Ann Collins regarding C.S. Lewis was interesting. However, having been a long time fan of C.S. Lewis myself it is obvious that Mary Ann Collins is not being objective and quotes things out of context. Since I moved last October I can't find most of my books or ...

Seeker Sensitive Churches

I attend the Port Orchard Nazarene church for 7 years before leaving. I had a huge problem with the pastor jumping on the bandwagon of the seeker sensitive movement. He uses almost no scripture in his sermons anymore and what little he does are paraphrased version that are unscholarly to say the lea...

Thanks for the reply, it gives me a lot more to think about. A story that brought all this up for me happened at one of the local public schools. We had just finished up an after school club when one of the girls started asking one of the leaders "does every person who sins go to hell? What if ...

LOL, I didn't realize how long my last post was. Anyways, the reason I brought this up as I said in the last post was because I think people focus on the wrong thing when sharing the gospel. What I wanted to see if anyone disagrees with my understanding of sin and how it affects us. I can only think...

Sorry for the delay in getting back, I've been working a lot lately and thank God its fishing time again. Shawn, thanks fo the reply. I completely agree, but I was looking for some discussion on what those verses mean, not just scripture. The reason I started this topic was to see what others interp...

Why do people go to hell?

For the sake of discussion, I thought I would bring up two questions that have made me think about salvation. I ask these questions, to Christians, and its really a two part queston. Will people be sent/condemned to hell because of their sins (plural, ie. lies, stealing, hate, adultery, murder, etc....

Hello anonymous, The concept of being perfect is an important and needs to be understood by every christian. For Christians there are two ways that we must look at perfection. First, in our standing and relationship to God we have been made perfect forever. Hebrews 10:14 says "For by one sacrif...

Maybe I can shed some light on the history of the wittenburgdoor and its like to youthspecialties. I have been a long time reader of both and a big fan of Mike Yaconelli. When Mike was just starting out in youth ministry he was a volunteer for Youth For Christ and he noticed that when it came to min...

It is true that the God's word is true and absolute. You are right that many individual churches will condemn other churches for disagreeing on non-essential doctrines. But for the majority of churches, although they disagree on a lot of different things they both agree that scripture alone is our g...

Hmmm... For some reason that verse never crossed my mind. Thank you that helps me a lot. There have been several people I know including one from work that has grown up catholic and as I have been talking to some of them the topic of politics which almost always leads back to our faith but really it...

A little bit farther down the article it says that not a single book was written for non-believers but for believers. I know it was written to believers but do you think that means it wasn't written at all to un-believers?

Thanks, that reminds me that Jesus has told us to follow his example and so did the apostles. If we follow Jesus' example it seems to me that when he was tempted in the desert the scripture alone was enough of a reason to resist satan. It appears that he always brought things back to what the script...

Hey, this is the first section that I was looking at because this is the first point that the Roman Catholic Church tells its followers to have evangelical Christians prove when discussing the issue of whether or not the church and tradition are equal with scripture or whether it's sola scriptura ht...

I brought it up not as an accusation but as an inquiry because the way you wrote, it sounded like you were saying God's nature is cunning and fearful which if that was the case then you can see why it would definitely sound sarcastic. I said if I was wrong I apologize. I'm sorry. And please register...

It sounds like you're being sarcastic. If I'm wrong I apologize. The bible is filled with all kids of stories where God allows things to happen to people in order to reveal things to them as well as prove that because he is God he can do whatever he wants because he is God. Read the story of Job, wa...
