Craig, There are two main sets of texts used in translations, the Alexandrian texts and the Byzantine Texts. The Alexandrian texts are much older and more complete. The Dead See Scrolls are part of the Alexandrian texts. Since the Alexandrian texts are much older and therefore more accurate than tra...

Jim, I'm not sure, I have to admit that I'm not real familiar with all the scriptures that support or oppose what I'm talking about. I'm simply referring to the World's view today of Christians. Christian persecution is on the rise. The attack on America was by Muslim fundamentalists. Islam is about...

Welcome to the discussion biblebeliever, An important key to understanding scripture and interpreting it accurately is context. Starting in verse 18 it says: 18For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written, ...

I agree. The main reason I brought this up is that we so often in these types of situations a cover-up taking place which allows the world to say we're all just a bunch of liars and hypocrites. What I found interesting is Ted Haggard hasn't been trying to make excuses but there seems to be a real ho...

Ted Haggard
Most people have heard the stories about Ted Haggard and of course the media wants to run with the story. I have been very impressed with how their church has handled it. It seems very obvious that Ted was man with a heart for God that was caught in a cycle of sin that he didn't know how to overcome...

Must we patronize a brothel to witness to prostitutes?
Must we patronize a brothel to witness to prostitutes? Good question... I have thought about this a lot lately and I have come to two conclusions. There are two extremes, those who advocate going to bars, adult clubs, bad movies, bad concerts, etc. all in the name of an opportunity to witness. The o...

calvary chapel letter
Jim, Thanks for posting the letter about the calvary chapels. I agree that many calvary chapel pastors are nice. I have personally met several and know that there are many who are very good, sincere, bible teachers who have no desire to control the people. I love most of the ministry principles abou...

Joeseph, I really am sorry if you feel as if I am out to cause trouble, that honestly is not my intent. I am not trying to get people to gang up on you. In fact, you yourself said in emails and on my Blog that you have liked how friendly I have been about this whole thing. Only when I pointed out st...

Joseph, You said: I am just wondering why you were so quick to equate me with the beliefs of a site 2 links away from mine when I have a disclaimer on my site very similar to yours? I know that you more than likely don't support these things because I have not seen anything to indicate otherwise dir...

You have a link to http://typicalsaint.com//?cat=3 which has a couple swear words as well as a swear word for the title of an article, but yet the author proclaims to be Christian and says that swearing is okay in the right context. Do you agree that this is good demeanor for the Body of Christ? I ...

David, Thanks for input. You are right that these arguments divide. That is my reason for bring up this topic. I'm not trying to say that the NIV is the only version or even the best version out there. It seems to me when you look at all the versions objectively you see that they all have good point...
