Christians following Gurus instead of the Lord Jesus

Amen, Zach. We are all guilty to varying degrees of following gurus instead of the Lord Jesus. We are all susceptible to having our hearts drawn away to idolatrous attachments to men or movements or crusades or organizations or many other things in life. Following gurus is one the the concerns I dis...

Celebrities

Zach, I agree that just being known my many people is not, in itself bad. Like you say, what matters is how a person with celebrity deals with it. Does he gather around himself a following rather than simply being a brother who points to Jesus and builds up the brethren? Also, what matters, is how t...

Occult Fantasy

Zach, I understand your appreciation of C.S Lewis and your points about Mary Ann Collins' article have validity. When I first became a follower of Jesus, "Mere Christianity" really impressed me. I remember thinking that this book proves that you can be a Christian and an intellectual at th...

The Lord will give you wisdom, Zach. Thanks for the links. I'll take a look at them. Seeker friendly and church growth and churchianity in general are all very tragic trends. People worship the "process" of church and marketing church instead of loving Jesus and loving one another and grow...

Deleted Old Discussion Boards

I had to delete my two older discussion boards. They were made with Frontpage 2000 and someone was gaining access to them and abusing them... so I deleted them.

Please enjoy using this phpbb board!

Gravy, I appreciate your thoughts! As you can see, this discussion board doesn't get a whole lot of action. But... I'm grateful that there is a place here that people can comment and discuss when they want to. Please feel free to email me... or Zach, too. I'm sure he wouldn't mind. Lord bless you. P...

Sin & Evangelism

Zach, It seems like you are bringing up two topics that are related: The Theology of Sin How to Evangelize Both are important topics of discussion. I agree with the statement, "We are not sinners because we sin, we sin because we are sinners" as applies to an unsaved person. Years ago I wa...

Shawn wrote: Jim if the use of the word "avatar" is the only issue I wonder if there's a way to change the word "avatar" in the software? If so, what would be an appropriate name to change it to? Very good question. If there was a way to replace the word, "avatar" I wou...

More Questions about these cartoons

On what different levels can we examine such a media event? What is the intent of the publishers of the cartoons? What is the intent of the leaders who provoke the protests? What is the intent of the mass media in hyping this event? What is the intent of the rulers of the corporations who own the ma...

Perfection

No Nirvana For the Christian Dear anonyms You ask very important questions, and I believe Zach's response is very appropriate. In the Christian life, there is no "Nirvana" or "Satori". That is, there is no state where we have suddenly arrived into a state of sinless perfection o...
