Patience and Preparation
Kevin, I truly understand what you mean about not being able to stomach more reading. One of the points I appreciated about Steve Phillip's chapter I linked to http://x.procinwarn.com/blog/?p=24 ...was that Jesus set an example for us of 30 years living in obscurity and humble obedience prior to His ...

Kevin, I know exactly what you are talking about. And I've received numerous emails from people who have been through similar situations. I appreciate your words and Zach's on these things. I pray our Lord would encourage you. May the Lord help you to continue learning the word of God from Genesis ...

Formerly "The Bible Speaks"
Greetings David.
I had not heard of this group, but after looking into it a bit I found out that it was formerly the group, "The Bible Speaks" which I had heard of.

If you registered but I deleted you then email me!
Hello,
I get so much spam registrations, I might accidentally delete someone who legitimately wants to take part in the discussion.
So... If that happens to you, please email me at jimbaum@procinwarn.com and I will get you registered.
Thanks,
Jim B.

I think we should look at the New Testament and see what roles are called for providing leadership in the local assembly and then we should follow that pattern. If we create a pattern different than the New Testament, then we may be distracting and obscuring what the local assembly should be. Part ...

As I've examined the New Testament on these things, I observe that it teaches that a local assembly of believers should be led by multiple elders who are called to pastor the believers in that fellowship. Each elder should be capable of teaching and some elders labor in the word. The Lord's Supper ...

The Teaching of the Apostles
Zach, I do appreciate examining these things together. On a practical level I can see your theory as cause and effect: Under persecution the local assemblies must be small and intimate in order to be low profile. In times of relative freedom and comfort, groups and leaders have the luxury to go ...

A New Testament Assembly
Zach, I appreciate that you appreciate that we can discuss important things! Yes, and even if we continue to disagree about some things, I think it is very important that believers in the Lord Jesus Christ discuss such matters. I rejoice when Christ is preached and I do believe that the Coursons ...

Professing Christians often are indoctrinated to act more like the proverbial lemmings than like Biblical sheep. I think it is helpful to examine examples of coercive cults like the Moonies or the Jim Jones' Peoples' Temple; or even Stalinist Russia. In each of these there is a climate of fear that ...

Zach, This is a very important discussion. We must want to properly apply commandments from the Lord such as Matthew 18:15-17 and 1 Timothy 5:19, 20. But there is a difference between a personal sin issue versus public teaching. When it comes to a leader or teacher teaching something publicly, we ...
